It all started at the very first BBQ Festival held at Laishley Park. The fantastic kitchen staff was preparing their delicious beef brisket for the weekends festivities. The mouth watering aromas that were being creating by the magicians known as cooks were out of this world.
Simply meant as a joke, a passerby stated that he could eat the weight of a small child in serving of this delicious masterpiece served on a plate. Luckily for the man in passing, Chris Evans, Director of Operations at the Laishley Crab House, heard the statement. At that moment a challenge was created.
The male bravado took hold of the two parties, and it was now a do or die moment. "Can your actions speak louder than words?" Chris remarked. "I will let you walk away without paying a dime, if you can consume that much food." Soon enough a mountain of a plate with 4 lbs. of beef brisket, 2 lbs of French fries, 1 lb. of cole slaw, 2 dinner rolls and corn on the cob smothered in gravy was placed on the table in front of the 2 men.
Along with the food came a small crowd that slowly started to grow as word spread of a battle of truly epic portions was about to be witnessed.
